Job Description :
A Lakeland based fabrication shop is looking for a layout fitter to add to their team.  This is a temp to hire position and a great career opportunity.   Ability to create fixtures & jigs for layout and fit up of elements from blueprints.   Ability to perform multiple welding processes on both, ferrous and non-ferrous metals. Ability to safely rig/operate lifting and material handling equipment (overhead cranes & forklifts). Adhere to and practice company’s safety requirements.  Ability to work independently or as part of a team, with limited supervision. Ability to exercise excellent time management and organizational skills. 

 

High proficiency in blueprint reading and layout techniques. Strong knowledge and experience with structural & misc. metal fabrication. Familiar with multiple welding processes, with ability to be certified in each. Knowledgeable on gasses and filler metals.  Ability to operate all types of welding and fabrication equipment. Ability to lead and mentor welders, helpful but not necessary

 


Experience 


Ten years previous experience in the welding/fabrication industry. 



Education 


Formal vocational or technical training program preferred, but not necessary.


Required Qualifications :

7:00AM-3:30PM (Monday-Friday) Work in Metal fabrication job shop, located in central Florida, fitting pipe, structural steel and vessels. 


Candidate must be proficient and experienced in reading shop drawings.


Candidate must be able to weld both stainless & carbon steel using FCAW, GMAW and SMAW welding processes. 


Candidate is require to pass an AWS vertical plate weld test at the interview and have demonstrated experience in fitting & layout of 2 years minimum in a fabrication plant. 


Candidate will be required to be certified in ASME Section 9 in various weld processes.
Must be willing to work rotating shifts from 7:00 am to 3:30pm and 3:30pm to 11:30pm and be able to conform to a strongly enforced safety program, and have excellent attendance, health, dependable transportation, and be drug free. 



All basic safety equipment shall be provided upon employment. Salary is $18 to $24 / hour and is based on experience and ability. We offer health insurance, paid holidays, and vacation benefits.


Qualifications:
1. Minimum two years of experience fitting either structural or vessels.


2. Previous weld certification and qualifications to section 9 of ASME boiler & pressure vessels code. 


3. Minimum of 2 years’ experience with FCAW welding process on pressure retaining welds. 


4. Dependable transportation 


5. Able to work in confined space and heights up to 25’ 6. Pass a drug test
